Rigorous imprisonment – Rigorous imprisonment in IPC
Section 53 of IPC provides two types of imprisonment. Rigorous imprisonment and Simple imprisonment.
Under rigorous imprisonment, a person convicted of an offence is to do hard labour in imprisonment.
Such a convicted person is required to do rigorous duties.
Punishment of rigorous imprisonment is awarded for grave or gravest offences.
Rigorous imprisonment is generally provided a long term of imprisonment has to be imposed.
